A new fleet of buses arrives at ZAL Port

Since March 18, the Port of Barcelona’s definitive fleet of vehicles has been implemented, thus strengthening its transport infrastructure. These vehicles include four new bus lines 88/89 equipped with hybrid technology, which offer lower energy consumption and articulated models that significantly improve the offer and transport capacity during peak hours.

These bus lines connect directly with the ZAL Port, thus consolidating the connectivity of the area with the metropolitan transport network.

NEW DEFINITIVE FLEET

With the new arrival of definitive vehicles, the service fleet now has two types of vehicles:

                                     ·         9 standards of 12 m

                                    ·       4 articulated 18m, with the entry of these vehicles the aim is to offer a better offer, having greater                                               capacity during peak service hours.

The new hybrid technology vehicles offer theoretical consumption of:

      ·         Standards: 36.4L/100 km, reducing the consumption of the previous vehicles assigned to the service

      ·         Articulated: 49,4L/100 km

New vehicles will offer greater comfort and capacity taking into account their configuration:

      ·         Standards:  25 seats + 90 feet + 2 PRM, more standing spaces and all vehicles with two spaces for PRM.

     ·         Articulated: 40 seats + 127 feet + 2 PMR

In addition, they will be equipped with the following onboard equipment and systems:

     ·         Video surveillance system for the prevention and at the same time for the solution of the incidents that may occur

    ·       Passenger counting system that makes it possible to know in real time and through historical data the occupation of vehicles in each section of the route and in this way to better adjust the offer based on demand

    ·       Advanced active safety system on board which will reduce accidents or collisions through a collision prevention system, based on artificial vision sensors and real-time alerts.

It is good news for promoting public transport and improving the service in an area with a lot of movement of people.
