The ZAL of the Port of Barcelona celebrates 30 years

• It was the first area dedicated to port logistics in the State.

The Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) of the Port of Barcelona celebrated its 30th anniversary today with an event, organized at the Hospitality of the Port of Barcelona, which had the interventions of the president of the Port of Barcelona, Lluís Salvadó; and the general manager of Centro Intermodal de Logistica, S.A. (Cilsa), Jordi Guerrero.

At the event, the Cilsa Awards were presented to the seven companies that have been in the ZAL Port for more than 25 years: DHL, Transcoma, Kuehne Nagel, Nippon Express, Trans Natur, World Duty Free and Salvat Logística.

During his speech, the president of the Port of Barcelona, Lluís Salvadó, explained that “the ZAL Port is an example of how public-private collaboration, in this case between the port and Merlin Properties, can be a very efficient tool for to develop complex projects such as the ZAL Port” and emphasized that “the ZAL Port has made it easy for the Port of Barcelona to have a highly competitive and efficient ecosystem of local and international logistics operators that provide specialized services. It is, therefore, a competitiveness factor for our country’s economy”.
