- The frequencies of line 88, which connects the city with the ZAL Port, have improved and its route has been extended to the BEST terminal.
- The service of this line, that currently has 335,000 annual users, is provided by the AMB with the financial support of the Port of Barcelona and CILSA, the ZAL Port management company.
The Port of Barcelona and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) have recently expanded the capacity and route of the bus service 88, the only public transport line that serves the port area.
On the one hand, the bus line 88 has expanded its capacity thanks to the increase of the frequency of buses. On the other hand, some of the expeditions of this service have extended their route to the BEST terminal, a remarkable improvement for professionals working in this area of the Port of Barcelona. Specifically, the expeditions that have extended the route are the following:
- Expeditions Metro Paral·lel – Terminal BEST: 06:45, 08:30, 16:00, 17:00 y 17:45.
- Expeditions Terminal BEST – Metro Paral·lel: 07:45, 09:30, 17:00, 18:00 y 18:45.
Beyond these improvements, there is an increase in the quality of the service by improving the user experience with the installation of new information totems and the replacement of some shelters for more accessibility and security.
The new informational totems use solar energy for their operation and inform about the arrival time of the next buses, also showing messages of affectations related to the service. The totems also have a cyberpass for people with blindness that, by activating it with a remote control, allows an audio to be sent out with the arrival time of the next buses. Currently there are six stops equipped with these informational totems and others will be added soon.
In line with the commitment to sustainability, both environmental and social, carried out by the Port of Barcelona and thanks to the collaboration agreement that it maintains with the AMB, bus line 88 is continuously adapting to the needs of users. The service of this line, that currently has 335,000 annual users, is provided by the AMB with the financial support of the Port of Barcelona and CILSA, the ZAL Port management company.
