EMAS

CILSA, company that manages the ZAL Port of the Port of Barcelona continues to work with the objective to strengthen their commitment to the environment getting, the European EMAS certification.

The EMAS registration is a voluntary tool designed by the European Commission for the registration and public recognition of those companies and organizations that have an excellent behavior in environmental matters.

CILSA, with the aim of promoting continuous improvement and offer the best quality to its customers, does a step further in its environmental performance and once implemented the ISO 14001 environmental management system, adhere voluntarily to the European system of management and environmental audit, achieving the European EMAS certification in the maintenance and upkeep of common areas.

CILSA realizes periodically the operation of the system through an environmental declaration verified by independent organizations, verified document that collects all information related to the environmental performance of the organization and its commitment for continuous improvement.

ISO 14001

On 14th January 2016, CILSA, a public company which manages the ZAL Port of the Port of Barcelona, received the environmental management system ISO 14001:2004 certificate issued by Bureau Veritas Certification, because of its compliance with the highest environmental standards in the management of the Logistics Activities Zone of the Port of Barcelona, for the maintenance and upkeep of common areas. The main axis of the project to get the certification was based on the design of the ZAL Port of the Port of Barcelona’s environmental policy, which reflect the commitments and objectives of the company which from the start of this/its logistics development until this time it had exercised voluntarily by promoting good practice and ethical management and by maintaining its position as a reference as being pioneers in this respect. The certificate confirms that the ZAL Port of the Port of Barcelona, complies with the requirements established by the standard ISO 14001 and that it has implemented an environmental management system that helps to prevent environment impacts, minimize the consumption of non-renewable energy and promote the use of the best technology  available. Highlights of this system of environmental improvement, – among others – are aspects as relevant as the optimization of waste, minimization of the impact of activities and facilities, the investigation of environmental incidents that occur or environmental emergency response and the latest measures such as the replacement of street lighting of the ZAL Port with LED lighting, that allows substantial energy savings by making efficient use of energy. In addition to that it greatly reduces CO₂ emissions. The process of implantation of the environmental management system has been developed by our own staff, it includes the training and awareness-raising of workers and fostering the culture of respect and commitment to the environment. With this environmental certification, a process which was initiated in 2015 comes to a close and serves as a basis  which CILSA can incorporate into its policy of environmental management within its areas of responsibility.

ISO 50001

CILSA, the company that manages the ZAL Port, received on December 20, 2017 the ISO 50001 certificate that has been audited and certified by Bureau Veritas Certification, thanks to compliance with the highest standards in the management of the Logistics Activities Area of the Port of Barcelona, to officiate the use and consumption of energy aimed at energy efficiency.

The axis of the project to achieve certification has been based on compliance with the environmental and energy policy of the ZAL Port, designed to collect the commitments and objectives of the company, which it voluntarily exercised from the beginning of this logistic development, until in 2015 they achieved ISO 14001 certifications and in 2016 EMAS III certification, promoting good practices, ethical management, and remaining a reference thanks to being pioneers in this regard.

With the obtaining of this new environmental certification, CILSA closes the circle of a process that has been relevant to incorporate into its Environmental Management System in the areas of its competence, and that demonstrate its commitment to the environment. This certificate certifies that the ZAL Port complies with the requirements established by ISO 50001: 2011, which is based on the requirements that this energy management system must comply with in order to carry out continuous and systematic improvements in the organization’s energy performance, that contributes to a more efficient and more sustainable use of energy, giving it confidence in the management system. In this system, the last established measures that fall under its environmental policy include the replacement of the public lighting of the park by LED lighting. This fact allowed a substantial energy saving as well a great attenuation CO₂ emissions.

In the Service Center building, light and air conditioning installations were replaced by LED lighting, and the latest generation climate solar film it was installed on the glazing of the building that filters light and intensity of heat, and other corrective measures that achieved a great energy saving. The process of implementing the System has been developed by CILSA‘s own staff, including training and awareness activities for workers, fostering a culture of respect and commitment to the environment, which is the basis for the success of this project.

ISO 45001

GLOBAL SAFE SAFETY

The Global Safe Site certification is granted to establishments that meet the established requirements, supporting the monitoring of disinfection and cleaning protocols, and the implementation of relevant security measures.

The operation consists of identifying the different variables to analyze in each case and evaluating disinfection, safety and hygiene.

AENOR: SUSTAINABILITY REPORT VERIFICATION (GRI)

The sustainability report contains public information from ZAL Port on its economic, environmental and social impact, both positive and negative in terms of sustainable development. This helps us evaluate progress towards achieving the objectives and commitments set. This year the information contained has been written in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) model, being validated by AENOR, a leading certification company in Spain.

Global Reporting Initiative defines economic, environmental and social performance standards so that companies can write and validate their sustainability report with objectivity criteria, by an external entity such as AENOR, this being an objective way of demonstrating the credibility of the information it contains. .
