SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY

At the INTERMODAL LOGISTICS CENTER (CILSA), we manage the ZAL Port, which is the Port of Barcelona’s intermodal logistics platform. Its objective is to generate maritime traffic with logistics infrastructure services with added value to the merchandise. A true logistics HUB and economic engine of the city.

At CILSA we are aware that our economic development must implicitly carry ethical and transparent management, ensure safety and health at work, cause the least negative environmental impact and take into account the needs of our stakeholders.

Our commitment goes beyond legal compliance, we voluntarily adhere to the UN Global Compact, we have implemented the ISO 14001 and EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) environmental management system, the ISO 50,001 energy management system, the ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system and SA 8000 certification of international agreements on working conditions.

We are committed to:

Comply with legal requirements and other requirements.

2.

Promote and facilitate the participation and consultation of workers and interest groups.

3.

Provide safe and healthy working conditions that help prevent injuries and deterioration of health.

4.

Eliminate hazards and reduce risks related to occupational health and safety.

5.

Prevent pollution, minimize our environmental impact by identifying and acting on significant environmental aspects; reduce the consumption of non-renewable energies and promote the use of the best available technologies.

6.

Design warehouses and equipment that are energy efficient, have the least environmental impact, complying with the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) standards.

7.

Staying in a process of improvement continues to provide the information and resources necessary to achieve the objectives and goals and implement control measures.

8.

To extend our policy to our suppliers in order for them to supply us with products and services with the minimum environmental impact, energy efficient and safe.

9.

Guarantee the transparency and objectivity of our data through external audits.

10.

Keep in mind in our strategic plans the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

CILSA‘s General Management assumes the commitment to provide the necessary resources to comply with this policy and make it public, as well as presenting the results achieved by the management system in the environmental declaration and in the sustainability report.

 

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY: ANNEX I: SA 8000 COMMITMENTS

  1. Child labor. Prohibition of the use of child labor.
  2. Forced or compulsory labor. The use of forced or compulsory labor is prohibited. The organization cannot under any circumstances withhold part of the salary or deposits in order to force the worker to continue working. All personnel must be free to leave the workplace premises at the end of their work day and must also be free to resign from employment with prior notice within a reasonable time.
  3. Health and security. A healthy and safe work environment must be provided in which risks of accidents and illnesses are prevented. In cases where it is required, the organization must provide the necessary personal protective equipment, as well as effective training to all workers.
  4. Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining. These rights must be respected and workers must be allowed to have their own union representatives.
  5. Discrimination. Any type of discrimination based on race, nationality, social origin, sex, political opinions, disability, religion or any other condition that may give rise to discrimination is not permitted.
  6. Disciplinary measures. Disciplinary practices that violate the dignity of people, involve physical or verbal punishment or psychological abuse are prohibited.
  7. Working hours. It should never exceed 48 hours per week, not including overtime. Overtime hours must not exceed 12 hours per week.
  8. Remuneration. This must be sufficient to cover the basic needs of the staff and offer a discretionary income, depending on the standard of living in the region.

The purpose of ZAL Port’s code of ethics is to establish the guidelines that must govern the ethical behavior of all the people who work there, in their daily development, with regard to the relationships and interactions it maintains with all its stakeholders. These are the workers themselves, clients, suppliers and external collaborators, public and private institutions and society in general.

ZAL Port considers its suppliers an indispensable part of achieving its growth objectives and improving service quality, seeking to establish relationships with them based on trust and consistency with its values.

Compliance with the principles and guidelines described in the Supplier Code is a fundamental element when selecting and evaluating suppliers. Thus, it is essential for ZAL Port that suppliers guide their actions based on the principles of integrity, responsibility and diligence, following correct guidelines of conduct in the market.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 goals and 169 indicators adopted by the 193 Member States of the United Nations in September 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals reflect a shared global vision to address the most pressing challenges facing humanity, recognizing the interconnection between economic, social and environmental issues.

ZAL Port is implementing a proactive approach with the purpose of contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals that are most closely related to its business activity. This commitment is reflected in the strategic sustainability plan that includes specific actions aimed at addressing and promoting the advancement of said objectives.

Since 2018, ZAL Port has adhered to the United Nations Global Compact, which implies a commitment to the principles of human rights, labor standards, the environment and anti-corruption, as well as the obligation to annually publish the results achieved through the progress. Since 2018 we have been committed to complying with the ten principles and we report our results through the publication of the sustainability report.

Principle 1.

Businesses must support and respect the protection of internationally recognized fundamental human rights within their sphere of influence.

Companies must ensure that their companies are not complicit in the violation of Human Rights Humans.

Principle 3.

Companies must support freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to Collective negotiation.

Businesses should support the elimination of all forms of forced or coerced labour.

Companies should support the eradication of child labor.

Principle 6.

Companies must support the abolition of discriminatory practices in employment and occupation
