This year, on its 20th anniversary, the Port Community will be, more than ever, by the side of those who need it most.
This year, the Port Community of Barcelona celebrates a very special milestone: the 20th anniversary of the Solidarity Container campaign, the major collective initiative that, year after year, unites companies, workers, and institutions of the Port to collect food for those most in need.
The Solidarity Container, led by the Port of Barcelona, has become much more than a campaign: it reflects the commitment and solidarity of a community that never fails to help. Thanks to the involvement of hundreds of individuals and companies, thousands of kilos of food have been collected in the previous 19 editions, which are then made available to the Banc dels aliments to be delivered directly to people in vulnerable situations.
In the last edition, the Port Community’s solidarity effort yielded €4,743 in donations, which were transformed into 4,743 kilos of food, demonstrating that every gesture counts and that, together, we can face any challenge.
This year, on its 20th anniversary, we want the Solidarity Container to be bigger than ever. The campaign begins today, November 10th. We encourage the entire Port Community and the public to join this solidarity movement that transforms the Port of Barcelona into a beacon of hope.
This year’s campaign is once again being held online through a dedicated section on the Port of Barcelona and Banc dels aliments websites, where donations can be made until January 6, 2025, thus improving stock management and food quality.
The President of the Port of Barcelona, José Alberto Carbonell, emphasized the Port Community’s commitment to this solidarity initiative, encouraging everyone to participate. “The fact that for almost two decades the people and organizations that make up this community have actively participated in these solidarity efforts demonstrates our collective commitment to the local and global challenges we face,” he noted.
