During the event, participants carried out an intensive clean-up of the beach, followed by a workshop on the interpretation of the waste collected, analysing its origin and the risks it poses to marine ecosystems and the health of the oceans.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the Barcelona Port Community has organised a joint action to commemorate World Environment Day, consolidating itself as an example of collaboration between institutions and companies to move towards a more sustainable port model committed to decarbonisation.
‘This type of initiative not only has a direct impact on the conservation of our natural environment, but also strengthens the environmental awareness of the port business community’, said Eduard Duran, Chairman of the Environment working group of the Barcelona Port Community Governing Council.
