On 22 September, the ZAL Port Service Center will host a conference dedicated to the challenges and strategies involved in moving towards safer and more sustainable mobility in port and logistics environments.

Mobility is one of the major challenges facing logistics environments. The coexistence of heavy traffic, vehicles, people and new forms of mobility, together with decarbonisation targets and new regulatory requirements, highlights the need to move towards increasingly safe, efficient and sustainable models.

With this objective in mind, on 22 September ZAL Port will hold the 1st Road Safety and Sustainable Mobility Technical Conference, under the theme “Challenges and strategies for safer and more sustainable mobility at the Port of Barcelona and ZAL Port”.

The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the ZAL Port Service Center building and will bring together professionals and specialists from different fields to share knowledge, experiences and solutions applicable to mobility in port and logistics environments.

A cross-cutting perspective on mobility challenges

The conference will address issues such as sustainable workplace mobility plans and regulatory developments, the ZAL Port 2026–2030 Strategic Road Safety and Sustainable Mobility Plan, sustainable mobility applied to port land transport, the coexistence of micromobility and heavy traffic, and emergency management at the Port of Barcelona and ZAL Port.

The programme will feature:

Juan Ansedes, ESG Business Development & Market Director – Spain & Portugal at Bureau Veritas, who will address sustainable workplace mobility plans and the latest developments arising from Law 9/2025.
Xavier Vilaró, Director and ESG Senior Advisor at GRM Grupo Risk Management, who will present the ZAL Port 2026–2030 Strategic Road Safety and Sustainable Mobility Plan.
Jordi Vila, Head of Environment at the Port Authority of Barcelona, who will discuss sustainable mobility in port land transport.
Jordi Jaria Gatell, TRPL with the ASPY Barcelona team, who will analyse road safety in logistics environments and the coexistence of micromobility and heavy traffic.
Jaume Molina, Chief Superintendent of the Port Police at the Port Authority of Barcelona, who will address emergency management at the Port of Barcelona and ZAL Port.

The session will also include opportunities for discussion and exchange between attendees and the participating specialists.

Safety and sustainability: two shared challenges

Through this first technical conference, ZAL Port aims to create a space for knowledge-sharing and reflection on mobility issues that directly affect the day-to-day activities of companies, professionals and people operating within one of the region’s leading logistics ecosystems.

The initiative is part of ZAL Port’s commitment to continuing to move towards a safer, more sustainable environment that is prepared for new mobility challenges, while also promoting the involvement and shared responsibility of all stakeholders within the port ecosystem.
