ZAL Port and CMA CGM IBERICA have joined forces to promote a joint campaign in favor of blood donation on February 1st. The aim of this campaign is to increase the blood reserves of hospitals in Catalonia.

The mobile unit of the Blood Bank will be next February 1 in the parking lot of the Service Center Building from 10am. at 2 p.m.

On the day of donation, remember to bring an official identity document (DNI, NIE, passport, driver’s license). After the donation, refreshments will be provided for donors to regain strength.

There are many reasons to start donating blood. Perhaps we are not aware of it now, but at some point in our lives, we, a family member or someone in our environment will need blood to regain their health.

It is estimated that, with one donation, up to three lives can be saved.

· Blood cannot be manufactured. Despite medical advances, we are still not able to manufacture blood. The only way to obtain it is through the altruistic donations made by thousands of people every day.

· Blood is not only needed when an accident or catastrophe occurs. It is an essential resource in hospitals for treatments, transplants and other types of interventions that are performed daily.

· Donation does not pose any health risks. It is a simple, safe, painless act assisted by specialized professionals. The amount extracted only represents 10% of the blood that circulates through our body, a percentage that does not affect the normal functioning of the organism.
